The wiper blades on my 48 finally rotted apart. The car's got aftermarket 10 inch knee type blades on it, and, stainless wiper arms. I know they're too long because they park themselves leaning against the windshield center divider. I figure I'm going to have to replace both arms and blades. Can you give me advice on where's the best place to order what I need at a decent price.

I believe to can get them at CO'40's or Fillingstation...There's a guy on Ebay that has the complete "shebang" for $50 bucks...If your looking to replace everything from the shaft on out...He swears the rubber is still soft...I bought a pair and was happy... 10 inch...Boy, that seems awful long...

I think they are supposed to be nine (9) inches. Snip off a half inch at the top of the arc. Keep snipping until they clear the top of the windshield. This ain't rocket science here. Charlie

Thanks Guys. I'm having trouble figuring out how the blades come off the arms as well. The end of the arm goes into a little metal housing with a pin mounted sideways through it on top of the blade. I did a little pushing and pulling on the blade but can't get it to detach from the arm. Another thing I noticed last night - I think some goober glued the passenger side wiper arm on the shaft to get it to stay on - the little spring clip is broken off.

I bought new blades for my '38 in case I ever get it going someday but when I got the '48 Coupe, it needed new blades so I used those and they fit perfect. They are supposed to be 8" blades but they are actually 8 1/4". Beamer

I found a set of correct replacement arms and blades at ClassicChevy and ordered them. I called the Filling Station Tech line first, but, they didn't have arms and blades that would fit my car currently. If my passenger arm is glued on, I'll fire up my Dremel with a cut-off wheel and carefully split the back of the arm where it fits down on the shaft. Hopefully I can then spread the thing open and get it off the shaft.
