What do people do to repair a padded dash panel in a '60s or '70s car. A cracked and broken dash must be a common problem, but my search of this site, the Internet and Hemmings has turned up only one repair service. When I asked what repairs cost, he said "I'm supposed to quote $500 but they usually cost about $1000."
Do any of you have any info to help me. Thanks.

Hi Sam, I think I have a vinyl cover from www.justdashes.com on my 77 impala. I installed it in 1998. It fits right on top of the old dash cover and is held on by silicone that they provided. So you remove nothing. You paint the dash with vinyl paint to match your original color. Most people would have no idea that this is a replacement non-factory repair/replacement. If you want I can post pictures of my dash. One thing about mine is that my car rarely sits out in the sun so I do not know how it would hold up to the constant exposure or heat. The only bad thing about mine is that it rides against the corner of the window on one side and the dash color is worn through to the black. My dash color is red. I think I paid less than $100 for it in 98. You can Armor All it to match the shine of the rest of your interior. Let me know if you want some pictures or to lookup where I bought it. Thanks, Mike

I had Just Dashes redue my dash on a 59 Mercury wagon. I sent them the old cover and they matched the color and size perfectly. This was in 2004 and with shipping it cost $700. The shipping was for an oversized box.

Thanks Mike. I have been in touch with JustDashes, but I didn't know that they offered a vinyl cover. I may be ready for one of those soon. My need is for a '67 Buick Skylark convertible whose dash was in terrible shape. I don't think that I have communicated with JustDashes very well. Maybe they don't like Buicks.
