my 40' coupe has six lug wheels.
is there a reason chevy had six lug wheels in the early cars?
why and when did they changed to five lug wheels?
just wondering....

Regular production, for cars, was 1949, I believe.

It saved the cost of 4 studs and nuts per car. That could have amounted to a million dollars a year. Other than that five lugs were the norm for cars - exept for some light weight cars that had only four.
