On a 1940 Special Deluxe, the hood side trim has a painted back ground behind the words SPECIAL DELUXE. Should this be painted black or should it be painted the same color as the car?

I have the same question for the two trim pieces on either side of the logo on the front of the hood above the grill. I have seem these pieces just buffed and others with two stripes. Which is correct, and if it should be painted, what is the correct color?

My car was black from the factory and my trim had been painted black. I have repainted my car Ruby Maroon. What to do?

Thanks!!
