Got my G&D last week. Very nice issue. Very nice 41 convertible in there, as well. I couldn't help but admire the amount of work that went into restoring that car. Mercy! It appeared worse than mine in the beginning of restoration. There was a heap of work involved in that project. It turned real nice, though. Not wanting to point out anything negative, and I didn't see much at all, I did want to make a comment on the common and minor mistake, maybe, of painting the horizontas grooves in the bumper guards and the grille trim. I don't know why that is. Perhaps the owner likes it that way. Whatever. Charlie

OK NEWBIE here, be gentle, So just got ALL the stainless trim back from the polish shop and not a bit of color left on anythin, of course. Been pouring over internet pics, asking everybody I can ask, and there seems to as many opinions as there are people!! I'm confused, is there a definitive answer to make this car correct? Really could use thhe help here. Thanks, Olmike

Yes, there is. First I think Gene was being factious. That's because some people put red paint everywhere there is a groove to hold it. Follow this: Wide body moldings: Grooves are red. Grille vertical center bar: Broad Grooves are red. (Propeller and its two slanted grooves are blue) Tail light doors: Grooves are black. Chrome at license plate: "Chevrolet" grooves are black as well as the two horizontal grooves to each side. Chrome at top of grille. Grooves are black. Background at "Chevrolet" at front of hood is: Body color. Background at "Master Deluxe" or "Special Deluxe" on sides of hood is: Body color. Grille grooves are red. Accessory Trunk Guard: Grooves are red. (Propeller is blue.) Accessory Fog Lights: Door grooves are red. Medallion grooves at top are red. (There may be a touch of blue in center for a tiny propeller but I'm not sure.) Accessory Passing Light. Not sure about it. I never had one of those. Other than that, that's about it. I may have missed something. Common things that get red paint but shouldn't are: Grooves in grille surround. Grooves in bumper guards. Grooves in parking light doors. Grooves in accessory bumper tips. Good luck, Charlie

If we could get an A-Men on this, or your objections, I would consider it an item for the Tech Talk.

Gene, Well, maybe you do tend to be factious but I meant facetious. It was a typo. Nothing more. But just to be safe, take two aspirins and call me in the morning. Best, Charlie

Something is amiss. I have never seen that film before. Is someone pulling our leg. Could that be for "down under"?

The photos reminded me that I didn't mention the door handles. I think they had the red stripe. Not 100 percent on this, though. Maybe, Ray or Gene, et al, can help on this one. The license plate bracket chrome in the photo is supposed to be black instead of red. I mentioned that. Charlie

The license plate bracket chrome in the photo is supposed to be black instead of red. I mentioned that. Only if the car is a Master Deluxe. What you see (less the color) is correct for the Special Deluxe.

hi charlie, yes you are correct the door handles had the red stripe, and also the the license bracket was painted black. the photos are from a 35mm film strip entitled "fit for a king" which was in color along with a few other color film strips that were in the 1941 product training kit, which consisted of quite a few film strips mostly in black & white along with the phonograph records, these were produced in silent, and sound mode. also in the 1941 engineering features book it is mentioned that the license bracket is to be painted red although in production it was painted black. one of the most interesting color film strips is the one showing all of the accessories for 1941. hope this helps.

Ray, I don't understand your comment. Are you implying that the red in the photograph of the license plate holder is correct? I sure thought that it was black for all models. What is the Master Deluxe vs Special Deluxe all about? Please clarify. Diz, Thanks for your excellent comment, as well. You are a fount of knowledge on 41 like no other. Well, I suppose that BigRichie is right up there with you on that year. I hope you are doing well. Best, Charlie

The 1941 Master Deluxe has no Chevrolet name, no chrome other than the trunk handle.....The license light is painted body color.

Actually, those 3 pictures I posted are from the filmstrip titled "The Most Beautiful Appearance Features of the 1941 Chevrolet". The car in the film is a Special Deluxe. They occasionally re-used pictures in different films.

Would depend on whether or not you had a steady hand. You may want to have a professional paint and body may do it. Piece of cake to them. Charlie

Painting the recesses and carefully wiping off the excess is probably the best for most of us. Slow drying paint helps in all cases.
