None of the above.

Take the radiator to an authorized radiator shop and they will paint it with a special mix of black paint. It is formulated to transfer heat from the radiator to the surrounding air.

......or you can do it with rattle can. But Ray is correct in that the paint must be formulated for use on radiators to dissipate heat from the radiator.

Eastwood has it.........

I used the satin finish on mine, but that doesn't mean it's correct.

Above all, don't use "regular" paint, you will increase your chances of overheating.

The best cooling is without paint. But that is unsatisfactory from an appearance standpoint.

The question remains; Gloss or satin? The link that Ken put up lists both.

I don't know. But would like to.

My local radiator shop uses a specially formulated black paint for radiators and it is gloss in appearance.

The paint GM used was a gloss but not a high gloss.

Okay Gene,

Let's narrow this sucker down some more. If it's not a high gloss then wouldn't that be satin? Or maybe a high satin?

This here is causing me brain freeze and I'm not even drinking a "frostie"!

No need to reply. I'm going with shake can gloss. The radiator had plenty of cooling capacity for the engine's temperatures. Nothing to worry about. You can circulate some water through the heater and it will make up the difference. If it gets too hot in the cabin, just open the air conditioner. It is operated by a lever under the dash.

OK - it has gloss comparable to lacquer before it is rubbed out. Not the high gloss polished finish like I see on some restored car radiators.

They are all just talking about the radiator itself. If the brackets are solder on, then most likely it would be painter with the radiator as it was from Harrison. A core support would've been dipped with different paint but the same gloss unpolished black color....Joe

Core and tank top and bottom...You silly duck pate of course they must be painted (core, top and bottom) after soldering...The rest doesn't matter...Only the brass, etc. That comes direct contact w/water/coolent, etc .

Yes, by the way I stopped by Ned's of California in Pittsburg...And assured me that there is a "special radiator paint"...But of course this being California he can't sell it...That would be in "violation of....Geez

Guess perhaps Eastwood could send me some...Or some one else from out of state... In the mean time I need to flush for an 90 mile trip and I'll just flush sandblast laugh just kidding...Use some paint remover and pull it again this summer, after "things" have settled down...Could slip a pic in there but I'd be pushing it lol laugh

So, besides Eastwood, anyone with a good quick sourse...Just in case i did have the time...?
