My 1940 Master Deluxe is missing the name plates that go on the hood near the cowl. Would the name plates from a 1941 Master Deluxe fit my 1940?

Hello Gene:

Why wouldn't a Master Deluxe hood side nameplate fit either a 1940 or a 1941? Isn't the only difference between the 2 years is that the 1941 MD nameplate has 2 parallel horizontal lines before and after the words...Master Deluxe ? The Master Deluze nameplate is about a foot long.

I would doubt it very much as all the trim on the hood was cahanged. Could be longer or shorter, higher or lower, fasten in a different manner or??

I actually ran 1941 Master Deluxe hood side nameplates on my 1940 for at least 1 year. Then when I was at a VCCA event, I noticed that another 1940 Master Deluxe did not have the 2 parallel lines before and after the words Master Deluxe. So, I began my search for the correct name plates for my 1940.
You might find this hard to believe, but no VCCA judge ever noticed the difference between the 1940 and 1941 nameplatess. The 1941's fit perfectly on my 40.

Toolman, did you find the 1940 name plates? If so are the 1941 plates for sale? If not what would a fair price be for set of 1941 name plates?

The 1940 and 1941 fits in place of each other...a suprise.
The judge didn't notice the difference...no surprise.

Yes, I found the correct 1940 Master Deluxe Hood Side Nameplates. I will check, but I am sure that I sold the 1941 nameplates several years ago. Obviously the key thing to look for on these nameplates is that the back side mounting tabs are still in useable condition. The tabs usually break or rust off.
