I am helping a friend restore a '27 Pontiac coupe, very similar to Chev, body by Fisher etc. Original exterior was dark green over black, padded black top c/w fake landeau bars. He has not been able to find any info on original interior finishes (all were removed long before he got car), i.e. material or colors for seats, door panels, headliner, etc. Anyone know what was used? He's pondering using black or brown leatherette for the seats, while I suspect cloth was used in coupes. I'm restoring a '31 Chev, but not much in common.

I have a 28 Business Coupe and National Coach, and both have cloth seats in a green color. The material was sort of like a wool, but they were restored with a different material since the original materials are not available. If you want to take a look at an interior of a 28 go to www.theforgottenchevy.com The guy who restored it said the material and color were the closest he could find to the original, and he sent me one of the remaining seat cushions that wasn't mouse eaten or rotted away. I don't know if the 27s were different or the same, but it may help you. Most likely they were the same. You might find some color advertisements on EBay for 27s that might also help you, even though Ads are not always the best source of accurate info. Hope this helps.

28CC, thanks for the lead. Looks like he used a corduroy type material. Hard to believe a car with only 18 miles on odometer would need to be be restored. Many would have kept it 100% original, even if seats were shabby. I'm stil looking.
