I am having a hard time finding rear fenders for my project.
I'm building a 1939 Chevy COE truck. it has a tow truck bed with home made rear fenders. I read that in 1939, Chevy COE's used both 1938 or 1939 rear truck fenders. but I'm having a hard time finding a set.
Does anyone know if there is much differance in 1/2 ton rear fenders between 1938 & 1941? The truck is not original but I want it to look correct. The sides of the bed are totally flat.

I did a quick check of the Master Parts Catalogs and found this info. Hope it helps.

Rear fenders for '37 and '38 half ton models share the same part number in the 1929-1948 Master Parts Catalog.

That catalog also shows that from'39 through '46 half ton models share the same part number.

Unless I missed it, there are no rear fender parts numbers listed for any of the 6 models of COE produced in '39. There were 3 different wheel bases and each were offered with single and dual wheels.

Maybe someone else can shed more light on this?

Hi 37 BLUE; 1939 was Chevy's first year building COE's, They were one ton & larger, built as cab & chassis trucks. Dealers added the type of bed or box the customers wanted. From what I have read, either 1938 or 1939 rear fenders were used, probably depending on the type of bed you would order? (not sure on that)
1937 trucks may work, but they have a molded trim around the outer fender edge, front & rear fenders. 37 must had been the last year for that design. 1938, 39 & newer cars & trucks didn't have that molded edge. My 39 front fenders don't have that design so it would look out of place having a trim on the rear ones only.
Looking at pictures of trucks on the Internet, I was hoping that from 1938 to 1946 rear truck fenders would interchange. They seem to look the same & that's all that matters to me.
So yes that info helps. I can look for fenders from 38 up to 1946.
Thank you
