We've been discussing the turn signal switch for 1948, and it was mentioned that 1940 was the first year they were available. The switch on my '40 Has an imprint on top that says:
Auto Light
Chicago
9000
I'm guessing that it's an aftermarket unit. Anyone have a picture of the correct switch?

You are correct, the turn signal that you have is an aftermarket. If you give me a couple of days, I can shoot a picture of an original 40 turn signal switch.

The 1940-1942 switch has like a mini plastic shift knob at the end of the lever. That would be a shift knob from a 1940-1948.

What I find very strange is the 40-42 switch had the L&R on it but the 48 did not??

Thanks! I got two for the price of one on this reply, as I have two mirrors in the garage, and one of them is 4 1/2" diameter. Though I suppose it could also be aftermarket.
