What plugs are being used in the 1950 Chevy 216? I've read that the AC 44-5 was used in 1949-50. What is the correct plug for todays gasoline? Thanks, Harold

The 1949-1952 used an AC46-5.The 1950 and 1952 235 also used a 46-5. That plug is like a combines 45 and 46 heat range. 1953 (with the higher compression ratio) used aaan AC 44-5. THe number (heat range) of the spark plugyou used depends on the engine connditionand they typical type of driving you do. The factory selected a heat range kinda of in the middle. I use an AC45 (actually an AC 45R) in all my cars and they work well. An AC 45S has an extended tip and should not be used in a 216/235. The spark plugs stay a lot cleaner and last longer nowdays due to the unleaded gas.
