To all,
To everyone,

I have been offered, by a retiring friend, who is clearing out his warehouse, and who specialized in F--- parts, but found the following items (so far) for elderly Chevs in his massive stock, at very 'reasonable' prices: An original(NOS) 4.11 ring and pinion set(Yeah, I know Gene - "boat anchors", a box of tie rod ends, AND 4 sets of, supposedly "gen-u-wine" 6 volt Fog Lights - with mounting hardware -for 30's to 54 Chevys.

My question, before I buy them all for this "reasonable price", is; are they worth anything? I see that "Chevs of the 40's" is selling reproductions for $164.00.

I haven't seen them yet, but when I obtain the part #, I will get back to you.

I don't even know if GM offered them as an accessory or if they are an "aftermarket" item, but either way, I have wanted a pair ever since I saw them on a 40's Chev in a fairly recent issue of the VCCA magazine, so I'm going to buy 1 pair. Anyone interested in the other 3?

Sorry for the duplicate greeting. My computer is being cantankerous again, thanks to my expensive internet provider - "Charter Cable"!

The 4.11 ring gear and pinion is worth only whar scrap iron is selling for.Tie rods ends are a dime a dozen.......Fog lights????Depending as to what they are. There were guide fog lights that Chevrolet used in 1937-38, a slightly revised version in 1939 and another n 1940.These were all tound, the lenses were all 6 and 11/16" diameter .The 1940 had a rim that extended down a bit on the top so the lens was not completely round. The 1941 had a retangular lens as did the 1942 but they were not the same.None of these lights were sealed beam. There were many universal lights made. The average universal fog light has low value compared to the original correct light......How would you describe the lights, color of lens, chrome back size, etc?????

To Everyone,

Damn, I hate to admit this, but the whole thing was a "false alarm". I went to the guy's warehouse today and sure enough, there was a case of 8 Fog Lamps, BUT, they were only the yellow sealed beam(?) lights - Not the housings. They were indeed, "Guide" - division of General Motors - lights and the product number was 929904 and for 6-8 volt, but, as soon as I saw that, I didn't even bother to measure them.

I offer more direct apologies to the 2 people who responded privately to my post. Still, if you are interested in replacement lamps, I have the guy's address, or if you have friends who actually own F---'s, this guy has Everything, even bumper stickers that state; "Friends don't let friends drive - Chevys".

*@#%$@#!&*!!! Still, he is a friend.

Mr. Mack,

I don't believe he wants to sell them individually, but you can ask him. He wants to get rid of the whole case of 8. His address is: Glenn Brown's Classic **** Parts
3569 Clifton-Glendale Rd.
Spartanburg, SC 29307
Phone: (864) 579-7820
Cell: (864) 680-8073

Oh yeah and his name is Glenn Brown.

Mr. Mack from Comanche County,

OK, this fellow offered them to me for $5.00 each; but if you contact him, don't tell him that. OK?
