Hello everyone:
Hemmings has contacted our VCCA Executive Ambassador ( who is travelling to the Area 9 Meet as we speak ). Hemmings wants to know for one of their articles, the answer to this question.
How many 1957 convertibles were produced with Fuel Injection?
Don has already mentioned to them that Chevrolet did not seem to keep a lot of records as to what options ended up in certain body styles like convertibles.
Any ideas?

Of the appproxamently 500 passenger cars equipped with fuel injection in 1957 very few would have been convertibles.I never saw a F.I convertible at the drag strip I frequented in 1957. The most popular F.I. body styles were a 150 2 door or a 210 or BelAir hard top.
Nothing like what you find today. More convertibles have been converted to F.I. than the total number of FI. passenger cars made in 1957. My guess is that there were probably fewer than 50 FI. convertibles in 1957.

Thanks Gene for your fast response. I figured that convertibles were not the primary body style for F.I.

The good news is that in 1957, I was just thinking about attending first grade. I played with toy cars, but I didn't go to the drag strip very often.

gene: noted FI gurus brian futo, john degregory and john grata are of the opinion that just over 1000 57 chevy pass cars and just over 1000 57 corvettes received rochester FI units. i have an original 57 210 2 door post 250 hp 3 speed chevy as well as a 57 250 powerglide vette and a 57 283 4 speed vette. i tend to agree with these experts. mike
