i need to replace the gutter shield on the driver side window of my 40 coupe.
how do you remove the top window molding to take the gutter shied out without damaging the felt and liner?
is the gutter shield held in with screws or rivets?

thanks in advance

If the '40 is anything like my '38 the screws to remove the window garnish molding are located around the edge of the door. Once those are removed the lock knob is unscrewed and the molding should come in and up to remove. The fasteners for the piece you're wanting to remove should be visible then.
