Hello Everyone, In the process of deciding to remove the engine while the cylinder head was at the machine shop, I discovered that the passenger side front engine mount was bad. Today I discovered the frame mount point was ruined because of it. This will be a slight set back as I will have to create a template from the driver side mount point, flip it to the passenger side and weld in a new mount point. I will use the open bolt hole as a reference point to locate the metal needed to repair the damaged mount point. ![[Linked Image from i1238.photobucket.com]](http://i1238.photobucket.com/albums/ff484/dfd37chev/IMG_6667_zps607466cf.jpg)

Now that makes some sense. I was wondering about the photo and description not matching. It is common for the front engine mount to wear into the frame on 1931 and earlier engines. Same for the '32 and later front sheet metal mounts as they were made to be somewhat flexible. As they aged they got more flexible (loose) and then tried to rub through the frame or wallow out the holes.

I apologize for the heading. I forgot to include the word "mount" between frame and points. Is it possible to edit at such a late date ??
I will add that when I took the nose off there was no mount of any kind between the frame and the radiator support. I'm guessing there should be one ??

If the Master Deluxe is the same setup as the Master there should be 2 bolts, some rubber flat bushing spacer material, flat metal spacer and a lock plate... Billu38

Keep in mind, I said "if" it's the same as the Master....I've never really seen the Deluxe setup but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. Billu38

Aside from the front suspension and the rear gear ratio difference, I think both the Master and the MD bodies have the same mounts thru out. Here is a pic of the engine mounts...... the one on the right is from my MD along with the bell housing mount below it. And the one on the left came with the car along with bell housing mount below it as extra parts. The Filling Station catalog states that the engine mount on the right fits '36-51. It breaks down further as.....'36-'39 models FC,GB HB,JB....... '41-'48 ex. convertible.... '50-'51 w/Powerglide The one on the right fits '35-'51......no models designated The lower mounts will fit '35-'48.....no models designated I was going to use the ones on the left just because I had them until I discovered there is a height difference of a little more than 7/64". Does such a small amount really mean that much in the larger scheme of things?? Is there really that much difference between the GA (MD) and the GB (M) that require different front mounts??

Appearance wise the two on the right look like what was/is on my car. The replacements I bought (don't remember whether I got them from Chevs or TFS) weren't an exact replacement of the OEM mounts. They were too shallow in the threaded part. I had to grind a bit of my bolts off to get them tight.
Steve, an FYI you might put a piece of heater hose around your positive cable where it's rubbing the frame rail beside the starter. If that ever vibrated enough to wear through the cable insulation you'd have a hell of a problem. I put a piece of heater hose on mine at every rub point.

You can build up the hole on both sides of the worn out area with weld. Then re-shape the hole to the correct shape with the flat sides.

Chevy1778,
I talked with a friend of mine today who is a hell of a welder and he will be by this week to check out my dilemma and make suggestions on how to repair it.
