I had one lamp that didn't burn on my new 50 chevy. Simple task I thought. I guess you just take the nuts off the back of the lamp. After 63 years the nuts wont screw off...the studs came out of the bezel. That gets it apart but does not make it easy to go back together. I'm afraid I'm going to break the studs. Any ideas on how this is done easily. Thanks, Tom

'Never had one of those in my hand. However, if the nuts wont come off of the studs, can't you get some new studs, nuts, washers, etc.?

Just a thought - -

Can't you change the bulb by taking the lens off or is the bulb not the problem ??

There is no visible way to remove the lens. Gene is right, you just remove the socket, but I couldn't see it and didn't know how it came apart and I didn't want to break something. The bulb is still good because when it is properly grounded or the wires are moved a certain way it burns. Now to get it back together. Tom

Gaither, I think you are right, I'll probably have to get some new studs to work with the special clips and assemble it off the car and then secure the two nuts on the back. Thanks for all the help. Tom

Now that the studs are off, it would be easy to heat the nuts with an acetylene torch until they are red hot; which should allow them to be taken off. If you do not have access to a torch, go to your local garage and they’d likely be willing to heat them for you.

Dan.
