Were there two types of 1939 Chevrolet Guide Fog light buckets? (Round or Bullet style chrome buckets.) Also, did they all have the single wire type bulb with the black metal clip-on cover over approximately half the bulb?

The 1937-38 fog lights had the round back.1939 were bullet style. All of the pictures, film srtips, etc. show them this way.My guess is that the dealers installed the 1939 lenses in 1938 lights to get rid of the left over 1938's.

The 1939 had the glare reducing cap over the bulb.Just slips onto the bulb.

The lights on my '39 and the exrtas I have as well as others that I have seen have two wires, one cut off just behind the socket, and use the same double filament bulb as the head lights. The high beam 32 C.P. upper beam filament is used for the fog light.I have my directionals wired into the low beam 21 C.P. low beam filament.Makes a very good and bright directional.Had friends with a '37 and '38 that did the same.Would assume all 1937 thru 1939 lights were this way and possibly 1940 as they used the same basic light with a different rim, lens and bracket.

In reading the information that I posted last night I see that the information was posted in error.

The 1937-38 fog lamps have the bullet or more pointed back. The 1939 -40 have the rounded back.

Sorry about the error and steps have been taken to insure that it will never happen again. dance

So....How will you prevent this error from "ever happening again"? Are the "steps" punitive in nature?

Could have been worse, you might have been ordered to buy a Furd. LOL

P.S. Stay away and don't park next to the Furd trucks and SUVs, etc that could burst into flames...only had to recall 800,000 units...
