I have my eye on two Chev's for possible purchase.
A '40 coupe - restored several years ago but in good shape. Dont' know if it's the business coupe or 4 passenger model. Stock except for a 235 CI engine.
And, a '41 4 dr Master Deluxe - supposedly frame-off restoration. Completely stock.
(have not personally seen either one yet.)

Question - I know about the cosmetic/body style differences. Please, what are the mechanical changes from '40 to '41? Other comments/opinions would be welcomed.

Mechanically the 1940 and 1941 are much the same. The 1941 has a 3 inch longer wheelbase, its wider and weighs more. This makes it a little more comfortable riding and better handling. There were engine improvements but seeing it (the '40) has a 235 engine they are not important.Front suspension, steering, rear suspension are all about the same. The 1941 has always been a favorite...the 1940 coupe has better lines than the 1941 4 door.....Some look down on a 4 door (I have two of them).Trim parts are easier to find for the popular 1941..Some 1940 only parts may be difficult to find..........My 2 cents worth.

oh, but when you do find that part, what a great feeling that is!..

and when you get your vehicle complete, it's a little rarer than other models...

guess it depends on your patience level and the challenge you seek...
