They have been reproduced I don't know if they are currently available but believe they are. Mine worked perfectly.

What's the difference between the mats for the standard and the master deluxe? It appears the standard mats are available.

About 6 inches in length. The Standard running boards are shorter than the Master's.

Do you believe this shortness would look alright for a driver?

I would wait to find the correct mat and in the interim might choose to utilize some black ribbed rubber floor runner (home depot) cut to size until you find the right thing. It will be much cheaper and look better than the wrong mat. Is Steel Rubber still doing business? if so check with them, or the Filling Station in Lebanon Oregon

Based on above, I will buy new running boards, and take the suggestion of temporary rubber. Thanks to all for the good advice. Jim

This thread started with needing mats and ended with the idea of purchasing new boards. Did I miss something? When I found the mats for my car I cut some new flat sheet-metal and bonded the mat to that and installed on the original board frame.

Well I understand why the reader would be confused. Here is what happened. After calling all the companies referenced above plus a few, I leaned a couple of things. First the mats were originally vulcanized on a plate which in turn was mechanically fastened onto the running boards. When I peaked under these plates (2), I noted there was little left of the running boards due to water being trapped for forty years. Second I concluded that no one now stocks the rubber mats, but you can get boards which if painted look pretty good without the rubber. My plan is: install new running boards and wait until someone reproduces the rubber in quantity. In the mean time, I plan to post a sign atop the boards reading: "slippery when wet". Jim

If your prepared to search and wait, you can find good metal backing plates most likely with badly cracked rubber on top and hopefully the metal backing with clips is in good shape. Search EBAY USA every day and sooner or later they will show up.

Then purchase the reproduction I & I rubber mats for your MASTER SERIES ?? If they don't have any left in stock , they will get them made again when demand warrants it. They will put you on their postcard list and inform you when they are thinking about getting a run made. They just want to assure themselves of selling half or more.

Actually , if these guys are in a proper business , why they cannot lay out the $$$ to have the mats done and carry them IN STOCK is beyond me.
