The cowl light looks like a '31. And there's no horizontal wiring opening in the upper firewall that would lean towards it being a '32.

The 31 will have 3 hinges...the top one being real narrow & all the way at the top of the door. 32 has 2 hinges...Joe

In the cowl picture it looks like it has a cowl vent. That would make it a 32 since 31 had a roll up windshield. Chuick

The location of the door hinge looks like 32 as the 32 only had two door hinges. The 31 sedan would have three door hinges and would not have the cowl vent. I think only the 31 Cabriolet had a cowl vent.

Looks to be the remains of a '32 Coach. Cowl light, cowl vent are best indicators. There should be a Fisher Body plate riveted to firewall that would give body identification info. Also if '32 then the holes in the firewall for the radiator "V" support will be near the upper cowl corners. '31 are a couple inches toward the center of firewall. There will be a slot upper middle of firewall for cables and oil line on a '32. Photos don't show enough detail in those areas.

Chris, both '31 Cabriolet and Landau Phaeton had cowl vents.

I gotta go with a '32 Coach--my '31 Coaches do not have cowl vent or cowl lights. Also, yes, the position of hinge appears to be different on this door.

Take a look at the front center of the cowl, on the 32 almost all the cables including throttle, heat, etc. pass through an elongated bracket filled with rubber; the 31's had cables passing through numerous holes throughout the cowl front.

Assuming everything we see is all part of one car, then '32 Coach is only possibility based on cowl vent and door hinge location, and rear of body obviously a Coach. My ? is when do you plan to start the restoration?!

Has anyone ever seen a 1932 Coach with job number 32551S? That job number with letter "S" is shown in some parts books.

No idea, but in Canada, the equivalent to a Deluxe model was called a "Special", so is it possible it was a Canadian model 32551 Special?
