Searching didn't answer my question for my '36 Standard so...

Is the crank pully held on by any pins/fasteners/whatever? I see a key but thats it.

I see the pulley has threaded holes, my gear puller has teeth instead. Can I grab onto the backside of the pulley to get it off or will that mess it up? Not a big deal if I can't, i'll just make a puller for the threaded holes...

The balancer is held on by friction. To pull the balancer a bolt type balancer puller must be used. The use of a jaw type puller on the out side of the balancer will destroy it.

Make sure you're pushing against the end of the crank shaft & not on the hand crank lugs. A 9/16" socket fits in the hand crank hole for you to push against. At least it does on my '38. I use one of these.

When I pulled my '31, I followed the repair manual procedure. There should be one in your manual too. I purchased two 2 1/2" grade 8 bolts to fit the two threaded holes and two 2 inch long rolled steel tube sections to fit over the bolts. The puller kit that Tiny shows in his link is the one I used too. It's available at Auto Zone as a free loner tool. It is critical to keep the bolts in the pulley after it is removed until you reinstall it or the harmonic balancer springs will be wrecked.
