Looks like I'm going to be the owner of my old 38 coupe for a while longer. I need a car cover. I see them on ebay that say they fit a 38coupe but I wonder how well.Did anyone ever buy one of these type covers? I don't care about the weather, it never sets outside a AC/Heated garage anyway, it's just for dust and bus protection ,but I would like it to fit over the headlights and fenders without looking like I had a giant watermelon under the cover. Suggestions.

Never used one but I've read that if a cover doesn't allow air movement it can trap moisture against the car.

If you are keeping that beauty in an AC/heated garage grab a couple of your spouses old bed sheets for dust covers. Anything but the best(expensive) car covers are a pain to put on/off your coupe and what do you gain?
Sorry you could'nt get your coupe sold. I considered buying it but someone close to me pointed out that my garages are full! Thats probably a common problem for us retirees. Dan

Those would be a universal fit.......fords of that era, buicks , pont, olds, ply , dodge , chevys all have the same basic size and shape for several years.

GOOGLE..........car covers and see what you come up with. there are quality covers and some just for keeping the dustoff.

Very true. I bought a "good" all weather cover for my then freshly restored 69' Firebird 400/4spd convertible back in 87' to store it outside over the winter since the Nomad deserved the garage space more. In the spring, I pulled the car cover off of the Firebird and the paint looked like it had acne. Once the sun hit the car, the bubbles popped and went right to the primer. Some spots peeled off in sheets. It spent the remainder of the year outside then I parked it in the garage and it hasn't moved from there since. It now sits in the garage covered, but not with a cover... lol

Point is, NEVER buy a cover that isn't breathable.

I have talked to several dudes in the past that used parachutes as a car cover and they said that the parachute seemed to work better than a car cover.

iagree

The parachutes are light and they "breath." Generally, they are a bit big, though.

I used a blue plastic tarp on my 41 coupe for a few years storage sometime back. It caused the paint on top to blister real bad.

I have two 28 Chevy's and a 61 Corvette and needed a cover in my storage unit (mainly for dust control as I do some woodworking there). I got a large role of Visqueen for about $70 to cover them with (100'x20' roll). You'll need to trim/tape them to size but they drape over the cars easily and don't fit tight so they don't trap moisture. My storage is heated in winter so moisture is not much of a problem, and I work on the cars so I take the covers off when I do so they get aired out regularly. The Visqueen is used by painters for floor coverings in various thicknesses. Works well for what I need. I fit them so they drape over the car and come about 6" off the floor which provides additional air circulation. Use them only in Winter as I drive them in Summer and keep them cleaned off as needed. Simple and cheap with no problems so far. Biggest hassle is trimming to size so excess Visqueen is not laying on floor. I taped the excess material up on each size so they just drape over the tops without problems. I can easily get under the cover, open the doors, get in the car, etc. If you leave the door partially open it also provides air circulation under the Visqueen. Just be careful not to let sharp edges tear it. I put small plastic bottle over antenna on Vette so it doesn't puncture through the Visqueen.
