The 2nd photo does not look like a 33 chev . A 1933 chev has 3 louvre doors per side on the hood.

Actually the first picture is of a 1933 chevrolet standard CC series 107 " wheelbase. They only made 2 models of 33 standard.....the 2 door sedan and the 3 window coupe. They both had the multi louvered up and down vents.

Also note on the 33 std sedan how short the rubber running board mats are on the runningboards. They are 6" shorter in length than the 34-35 standard rubber.

A 1933 chevrolet master has 110 " wheel base and has the 3 door hood. Thats the easy way to tell them apart the hood.

Yes, the 4 passenger was a rumble seat model, its still a 3 window coupe except with a rumble seat. There were only 2 body styles produced...3 window coupe and 2 door coach.

Probably but there is no evidence that anybody on this planet can produce , that GM chevrolet produced a 1933 chevrolet called a MERCURY.

Mike , thanks, it was a bit "touch in cheek" that i asked if it was a mercury given all the recent discussion on the subject.

Many thanks to wawuzit for posting these old family photos.

The picture of the 490 was taken in Peterborough Ontario.

My dad often spoke of how he used to boil water and then cross a ravine with it and pour on the fuel pump of the '29 sedan delivery as it always seemed to have ice in it. The road to the farm was often impassable in winter.

I checked the insurance papers for the '33 and it says 1933 Coach Standard. Purchased in April 1946, dad let it run out of oil and seize up. The fellow who normally serviced the car towed it away, repaired it and drove it for many years.Dad purchased the 1941 Chev in Feb 1947 from British and American Motors in Toronto, 77 Avenue Rd. Torontonians will know the place.

The '37 Sedan Delivery dad always said was an excellent vehicle. A neighbour drove dad in it when dad was going overseas(WW2)

Sadly, dad passed away in 2008.

Down here in Aus. I've done a lot of research on 33 Chevs. I have a Holden build tag that is 33 and labelled 'Merc'
Quite a while ago a mate restored a 33 Master roadster, it was built from 2 wrecks. When restoring the diff he found the best housing had a shot c+p so he restored the c+p form the 2nd diff. Both were masters and the diff centre from one housing did not fit the 2nd housing, both masters, my conclusion was there were 2 masters, was one a master and the other a Mercury? who knows.
If you send me a PM I'll email you the article I produced for our 45th Anniversary magazine.

Chris......i am not the penultimate expert on 33 chevrolet standard series, nor do i want to be as i have 2 1935 chevrolets...one is a fisher built 3 window coupe and the other is a roadster chevrolet body outside supplier built body.

Its my understanding that HOLDEN built standard series roadsters for 1933 and standard series touring cars, neither of these body styles were availble in the usa/canada. They also built UTE's , not available in north america.

The HOLDEN BUILT 3 window 33 standard coupe has the weirdest body lines and roof line i have ever seen in a 1933---1935 standard series car.

As to the other stuff about 33 masters you mentioned, i have no idea whats going on there.

In north america nobody can prove the existance of a 33 mercury by chevrolet, so its like the BIG FOOT , YETI, abomidable snowman myth. Everybody has heard of it but nobody has ever seen it
