Hi,

I've been told my '37 Master Business Coupe should only have one wiper, while the Master Deluxe has two. Please advise.

Actually all 1937's had only one wiper as standard equipment.I have seen pictures from Chevrolet with Master DeLuxe with only one wiper but never have seen it on an actual car.May have been a mandatory option on the M.D...Also most Masters seem to have one.The accessory wiper was sold for all models-was part #985123 and cost $3.90. plus installation.

One of my 37s has only one wiper and a plug over the other hole. It also has the standard bird. (Hood ornament.) I don't have a picture handy that shows that feature. .
Look at passenger car accessories on web site <http://la.znet.com/~c1937/acc.htm>.

In checking thru my literature all Chevrolet cars thru 1939 came with a left wiper only. The dealers must have ordered most cars with the right wiper-Also the low torpedo hood ornament was standard from 1935 thru 1937 and most have the accessory eagle.I am sure that all were not dealer installed.

The first year all Chevrolet passenger cars had two wipers, two horns, two tail lights and a temperature gauge standard on all models was 1940.
MOst 1939's had dual tail lights-only the rare trunkless Master 85 sedans and coachs had one tail light.

To add to Gene's comment many of the right hand wipers were dealer installed. I have a box full of the "blanks" that I have picked up at dealers over the years.

I know this is an old post and i havent got to the wipers yet, only know they dont work. were you saying if it has two wipers it has two motors? I see only one motor but have two wipers on my 38 master deluxe. also have two tailights.
Maybe i have an extra motor i havent seen. they did not use interconnecting linkage??? because of power concern???
i am sure going to have a look first thing tomorrow. too bad the shop is across town.
