What are you doing with/for gasoline in your Vintage Chevrolet? Anything special?

Wal-mart has competitive prices on its gasoline. I use their regular. 87 octane with up to 10 percent corn squeezings. I put money on my Wal-mart card and then use it at their station. I get 3 cents off per gallon that way.

I don't put any additives in the gas or oil. If I were going to use something, I might put a little Marvel Mystery Oil in it or some sta-bil if I lived up north where old cars are put to sleep each winter.

I still haven't scoped out and fixed the idle on it yet, but It seems to run fine as far as the gasoline goes.

Gidday,

I just keep paying the $1.60 a litre here in Australia or a guess that's about $6.40 a gallon.

Enjoy ya cheap driving over there..

Cheers Grant.

Start looking in your rear view mirror! We're going to blow by you so fast it will scare you. Gas has doubled or more in the last four years with 25 days of a increase everyday. In two years it will be $5.50 a gal.

I throw some "Lucas Ethanol Fuel Conditioner w/Stabilizers" in with every tank...Why...? Because, Lucas would like me to...Just kidding...I've read some reviews of folks who use it in boats, etc. and they talk of it favorably...

Like Ray, I just fill it with what comes out of the pump and run it. In Mongolia we ran on something that smelled like fermented Yak leavings. Ran fine on that, too.

To 41specialdluxe. Do no use any extra additives in your gas

Read this and you will understand:

https://vccachat.org/ubbthreads.php/topics/268543/1

The HVA is clear about the damage you risk by filling gas containing any ethanol = corn squeezing.

Salon,

I can get straight gas (with no ethanol) but I don't believe the extra cost is worth it.

I think it boils down to mileage. If you're going to drive 10k miles a year maybe the straight gas would be the best, if you're a "pretty summer day" driver that burns one tank of gas per year, I can't imagine that it would make much difference.

I burn regular gas in my old Chevys because of the fuel pump diaphram, my more modern vehicles rarely see anything but ethanol.

I have found in 1 of my daily drivers it is "slightly" cheaper (50 cents per tank full) to use the lower grade non ethanol fuel rather than the E10 available here.

I use non oxygenated in my 28Chevies. I add some Stabil for winter storage, and due to carbon issues on spark plugs have started adding some fuel injection (carb cleaner) to the gas. I can get premium Non Ox gas across the border in Wisconsin for less than pump gas where I live (not counting the travel gas use) so it balances out. I get about 25 gallons at a time which lasts me all spring/summer. I put it in both my 28 Chevies, 61 Vette just to be safe. Most guys I know use straight pump gas, but I figure no sense taking chances since I've had oxygenated fuel ruin some old gas farm equipment in the past, and I can get the other stuff easily (Premium gas by some stations does NOT have Ethanol in it, but you have to check)
