I would like to replace the plate glass in my '32 4dr with tempered glass or should i go with laminated? I have it all out for restoration.

The laminate is a little list money, but the tempered looks more like plate.

Thanks, frankie

For my '31 Coach I replaced the windshield and back window with laminated glass, very inexpensive considering the complexity of the shapes, The existing front door glass is original laminated, and fine as is. The rear side windows were tempered/plate glass and since they are not subject to shock from closing like the doors, the glass people suggested leaving them as is. They told me replacing them with tempered glass would be very pricy.

When you break tempered glass it breaks into a gazillion tiny squares, you want that flying around right beside your head if somebody tosses a stone at your side window. Get the laminated.

Use lament it can be ground to look like plate on the edges if the glass shop knows how to do it, I had my 29 done that way and it looks like plate glass and it is safe.
I dote that tempered is avable for your car and to make it one must first cut regular glass and then temper it most glass shops can't do that.

when i used to safety inspect cars years ago, we were to check to be sure no plate glass was in any window. they specified laminated then. we could use either safety plate or safety sheet, not that much difference in price. i don't know if both those types are still available, but they are safe.

they don't make em like they usedta

I see a place called Atlantic Glass in your town that does glazing. I would start there. Their phone number is 732-747-2020. If they don't, ask them for someone who does..Joe
