The Original Flying Lady Hood Ornament on my car had a red plastic insert. Are there any suppliers for the original Red inserts?
Thanks for the help from all on the bulbs.

.No "flying ladies" had red that I can think of-only clear.1949 had red but was no lady.

WHAT YEAR IS YOUR CAR?

I think hes the guy with the '41......The genuine Chevrolet ornament in 1941 had clear plastic...There was an aftermarket one made (for years) with red plastic,I remember as it was one of the first things I bought to hang on my 1941 Chev-back in 1950.
The detail etc. wasn't exactly the same as the genuine.

According to Chevys' of the 40s the original inserts were clear, red and blue. The car is a 1941. Pontiac had an amber indian emblem. The original appears very old as the exposed parts of the insert have lost all pigment. The sheltered parts are cranberry colored and you can see through it. The aftermarket one is offered by vendors such as mentioned above with clear inserts.

That could explain why clear is the only color provided now. You guys are a big help and I appreciate your input.

The 1941 Chevrolet accessory catalog says the following about the hood ornament: "the transparent Lucite vane is shatterproof and won't discolor". So, that information also indicates that the correct plastic for the 1941 hood ornament was clear. laugh laugh laugh

FYI When searching Ebay use chev* and it will list everything that starts with "chev" regardless of what, if any, letters follow. That way you can get the chevy and chevrolet items in one search. I am not aware of any way to get the permutations of the model year (41 and 1941) in one search.
Another problem, of course, is picking up an item that is listed for 40-48 or 1940-48. All you can do is know what all the years are that interchange with your year and search them individually.
