Hay Guys,

Just a quick questions. Is my 1940 Chevy grill stainless steel or is this something I need to have chromed?

My grill has some surface rust, which makes me think it must have been chrome. Stainless steel will not rust, is that correct?

Thanks,

Gerry

Gerry---yes it was chromed ,mine was the same way with surface rust --it ain't cheap to get it recromed !!You may want to consider powder coating ( in "chrome" paint )it until the cookie jar has enough to do a chrome job properly

Thanks John,

Oh well, it just money. If I had wanted a cheep hobby I could have choosen bowling. You get to the point after spending so much, . . . . I may as well do it right.

If and when I do the chrome, it appears there are rivits holding on the bottom front panel, would they need to be cut to remove the grill?

I will remind my wife that my birthday is coming and a new grill would be a perfect gift.

Thanks again.

Best of luck with new grille for your birthday but be sure you specify grille for the chev and not a grille for the bbq.
