When my car was painted,(1932 coupe), my painter primed and painted my tag . How can I get the paint off carefully without removing the original from the fire wall.

If you find a way let me know. My '38's Data Plate had been painted over by the PO. I tried carefully removing the paint but it was taking the original paint too. I still have the original tag but I ended up having to buy a reproduction to mount on the car. My original as it now exists is below.

I think that Paul is talking about the Fisher Body tag that is on the cowl. If so, the firewall can be masked off for protection and then using a very small artist's brush a small amount of paint remover can be applied a little at a time to remove the paint. It would be a long and tedious job but it can be done.

If the paint is really, really fresh, then small amounts of lacquer thinner on a rag would probably work too.

So the firewall tag was originally unpainted?

Thanks, Joe. One more change to make.
