Does anyone have the width of the bed wood for a 1946 1/2 ton? Mar-K was helpful with telling me there are 7 Boards in the 46 and how long they are but would not disclose the width. I see from photo's that the center board is wider than the others. I hope you can help me with this question. BED BOARDS X X X X X X X 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 How wide is the center board (4) and the boards on each side of center (3 & 5) ? Then boards 1, 2, 6, 7 ?
Thank you very much for your help.
I'm sure others will appreciate this info also. Harold

Hi Harold, I don't have my truck here, but I do have the boards that I took off when I restored it. The widest one is 9 1/4 inches. The ones at the bedsides are 7 1/2 inches. I have three others that are 5 1/2 inches and one that is 5 1/4 inches. Why I don't know. Perhaps one was trimmed to fit. Of course those are the total board width and then you cut the dadoes for the bed strips. I don't usually frequent the chat, but was happy to find something I could help with. Let me know if you need any further info. Ken K Saginaw, MI

Ken, Thank you for responding. This info will be very useful. Do you think the boards you measured are original from the Chevy plant? Harold

Yes, Harold, I believe they are original. I bought the truck in 1971, so it was "only" 25 years old at that point. The boards were worn in places, especially right behind the cab. There was no indication that they weren't original.
It's great to hear that someone else is restoring a 46. Again, if I can be of more help, let me know. I have a couple of "leftovers" from when I did it.
