Hello, I was wondering if you ever found out about the horn set-up inside the steering column. I have just pulled the steering wheel and sleeve off trying to figure what the wire hooks to. Iremove the two screws holding the horn button down, under the button was a u-shaped apparatus, thin, about 2 inches, going through the steering wheel, with a circular plate fitting between the legs of the u-shape, with a 90 degree tab facing down, into a spring which fit into the end of the steering shaft, holding the horn button up. pushing the button down pushes the u-shape down making contact with ?????. Inside the sleeve is a bushing to center the steering shaft but I do not know where the wire inside the sleeve hooks to or what. I have repaired the horn, have 6-volts going to it but cannot figure where to fasten the wire inside the sleeve. Any help on that part would be greatly appreciated. I could put external button on but would like to use the original setup.

It appears you understand some about the 1925 horn. A wire that is connected to the horn traverses the firewall and enters the steering column near the firewall. The wire is fed from the entry up to approximately 4~6 inches below the controls where it is fed OUTSIDE the column and then approximately 3~4 inches below the controls where it is attached to the contact ring with a screw. When the horn button is pressed the prongs makes the contact with the contract ring, thus completing the electrical circuit from the horn to the horn button. The early 1925 is correct with these instructions. The late 1925 is the same, except the horn is mounted in a bracket that is attached to one exhaust manifold bolt.

My late '25 horn bracket attaches to both manifold bolts.

You are correct. How did that slip through?

Hello, appreciate the feedback. Tried to leave a message yesterday but computer took a holiday. Finally working. I found that when my wire went into steering tube it did not come out. Had to drive horn ring out (thought at first it was only a bushing for steering shaft) and had to soldered wire to it. Groove was made into bushing for wire. All is now well with thanks also to a Raymond on the west coast. Chevy Guys Rule!
