Does anyone know the exact routing of the "anti-squeek welting" for the fenders and running boards? I have been told the "bubble" on the "anti-squeek" is 1/4"; is this correct? The "bubble" on the running boards is 1/2", yet, when placed atop the board there is still a gap between the "bubble" and the rocker panel; is this correct? Are there "spacers under the running board that would close the gap in the "bubble"? Thank you...JIM

Measuring a piece of Lynn Steeles "runningboard to body anti squeek"....the ID is 1/4" the OD is 1/2". So your 1/4" bubble is the round open area. I have a roll of this RB06-A 1933--1939 from I & I repo.
I have this on my 35 standard fisher coupe and it sits tight against the rocker panel. I would guess that if it does not fill the gap, if any ???, then some kind of shim be made where the runningboard mounts on the runningboard brackets. Only makes sense.

Hi Mike: I have a 12' length of Steele that is specific to the 34 running board. Again, I did not take this car apart, so, I do not know if there was a spacer between the board and the brackets. I just finished measuring the brackets and both sides are bent and twisted. I first noticed this when first fitting the board; the carriage bolts do not drop into the holes. I have to solve this problem prior to final assembly....JIM

Jim , over the years who knows when , then you and I finaly get our hands on the car , what is disturbed and what isn't is impossible to tell, even on survivor pristine originals. In the movie heartbreak ridge with clint eastwood, he made a statement that stuck with me...." be a marine , adapt and overcome" . I use that thinking when working on my roadster SHAZZBOT, when facing problems. mike

Hi Mike: I have heard that there were "shim plates" between the running boards & brackets that closed the gap to the rocker panels. It makes sense to me. I have a bunch of body shims left over from another car; time to use them then make a complete "plate" on the 5 axis water jet. That should close this case...JIM

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH, 5 jacket water jet cutter, how trick, nice garage toy. damn !!!!!!!!
you may find when you straighten the runningboard brackets things go back the way they are supposed too. Also thicker than original body mount rubbers can bump it up some.
All food for thought

Jim, I was working on lining my running board and rocker panel last night. I had to repair my rocker, so I needed to test fit everything to make sure it will all go back together during final assembly - still some time away. The gap on my was very small, but the two parts did line up, along with the rear fender. I did have to move the front bracket just a little to line up the running board front bolts, about 1/8" or just a little more. Still everything fit with litle trouble. Anyway, if you need some measurements to align the brackets, let me know and I will get them to you. Einar
