I posted a question about this on the Goodwrench Mechanical section but will try to see if it gets any responses here. My original post: https://vccachat.org/ubbthreads.php/topics/270669/rubber_spring_shackle_bushing_#Post270669Basically since my roadster will be driven a lot, I was thinking of replacing my rusty, broken original shackles with a more readily available rubber or urethane style spring bushing and shackles for ease of maintenance and a slightly better ride. Any suggestions? Thanks! Joe

In my younger years of cars I started to built a street rod, a spring shop gave me shackles & bushings for a trailer. They bolted in with no modifications....Joe

I was looking at my trailer wondering if they would work. I also was contemplating if I could use something from an AD era truck. I'll check with my trailer place next week. Thanks again! Joe

I didn't say if it would work....I only said they would fit. I got rid of the car before it could be driven. No more street rods for me...Joe

I have a set of "Thompson" replacement shackles and bushings that are of a modern design. While not rubber or urethane they have a pin that is threaded and fits into a sleeve that fits the hanger bracket and spring eye. The pins are tapered on the ends same as the originals and the shackles are held together in the same fashion. This design eliminates the tension washers as the pins are held tight to the shackles. The pin is center drilled to supply grease to the threaded pivoting area. Some late model heavy trucks use this same design principle. Unfortunately there is no legible part number on the box.

Thanks Steve! They came thru fine. I'm not an expert but they look a lot like the 34+ shackle design with the threaded bushing... Hmmmm, another option to consider.
