Hello friends,
I am tired of waiting for the parts guy to deliver the 'correct' coolant hoses and clamps for my '30 sedan. I think it is time to put generic hoses on the car, get it running and sort out some of the other issues THEN if the parts ever arrive, change back to 'correct' hoses and clamps. This brings me to the question, "What sizes do I need, assuming I use one flex hose for the lower rather than two hoses and a metal U?" Without the car here with me at my desk, I must ask friends and I appreciate your help. Do any of you have the dimentions of the upper and lower coolant hoses? If so, please e-mail them to me so that I can stop at the shop on the way home.
Thanks, Rick

The correct size of radiator hose is 1 1/4" I.D. and the correct style of hose is mandrel wrapped. You can get the correct hoses from any auto parts store that sells Dayco hoses. That's where I got mine from. The clamps and the metal outlet that goes between the hoses are both available from The Filling Station in Lebanon, Oregon. They also sell the correct radiator hose as well. laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh

Morning Friends,
Last night I got the coolant hoses on the '30 Sedan and filled the radiator with water (and antifreeze). It sat that way all night producing no leaks by morning. This evening, I hope to get the oil changed and then we will be ready for a first-start-up-since-1976 moment!
Progress would be better on the old girl but we 'dropped a valve' in my son's '66 Mustang a day ago. That pretty much ruined the excitement over engine work of any kind...

Hey Rick - very exciting! BUT-t-t-t - before you start it for the first time, I'd recommend you buy a can of Marvel Mystery Oil and squirt some into the cylinders and take off the valve cover and pour some over the lifters. Then turn it over by hand a few times to make sure everything is coated properly then let it sit a couple of hours to let the Mystery Oil do it's job, Then start it. If the engine sat that long - I'd do the above just as an extra bit of insurance to avoid a dry start. Maybe I'm over cautious but it will help to protect the engine and lubricate the dry rings before the pounding of engine running.
Good luck - hope she runs!!!
