I was at another club members shop Friday and was looking at the 28 touring project sitting in his garage. The radiator rod (single) was a triangular piece of sheet metal with adjustment rods at both ends that went to the center of the firewall. There were no other holes in the firewall for other rods. The 28 open cowl I have had two rods like my 29 coupe. Were these running changes? Or were there differences from plant to plant similar to the hood hold down scenario? I believe there were four types of hold downs in 29.

Several of us have noticed the difference between the straight and "V" shaped radiator supports. My limited research has not verified that it is early and late at a given plant and changeover date plant to plant which is what I suspect. Maybe a survey of build date (determined from car no., engine number) at each assembly plant and single or V would shed more light on the mystery.

Some time back I was keeping notes on this changeover Here in Australia I haven't found a single Stay support after march 1928 and for some other reason the bulk of them were all assembled in the Melbourne factory. similar to what chip said .
There is also some other oddities for egsample there are two different types of front dumb Irons on the car chassis and three different positions for the chassis side brake rod levers.I guess that is just another couple of those questions that we will never know about.

Thank you both for the replies. I am still tracking down parts for my project. Kind of like "what do you call 500 lawyers on the bottom of the ocean? A really good start." You could probably insert politicians in there if you wanted to. On another note or as some might say, okay i'll bite what are "dumb irons" Is that like asking what's a henway? (about 3 pounds)
