The 1949-54 shop manual shows that an X mark on the flywheel should be lined up with an X mark on the clutch housing. However, none of my 4 clutch housing has this X. They do have an O mark that is used to align the pressure plate with the clutch housing. Is the O mark on the clutch housing lined up with the X on the flywheel, or does the position of the clutch housing on the flywheel no longer matter?

After cleaning the clutch housing I chose to use I finally did locate a very faintly stamped "X" on the flange, so aligned that with the X on the flywheel.

Alinging the X only pertains to the original flywheel and pressure plate as they were balanced together.
