Hi Everyone!!
Super rexcited to begin a full restoration on my 1930 chevrolet 2-door. My father gave this car to me, it is 100% original, and I have full intentions to keep it that way as best I can!
I am hoping to find all the best literature on the 1930 chevy I can. Course I would be mot surprised to find a full manufacturer reference manual with torque specifications and every detail os dissassembly and reasembly of the car, that is what I am going for! I have found lots of good books like this for the Model A's I have worked on in the past, just was not sure what is out there for the chevy!
Looking forward tp getting started, and lots of posts t the site! Thanks everyone!
Jason

Hi Jason and welcome to Chevy Chatter. Glad to have you with us. Your 1930 sounds really cool and no doubt you are going to have lots of fun with it. Regarding literature on your car, you might want to contact the Filling Station in Lebanon, Oregon. They have lots of reprint literature for 1930. Here is their web site: www.fillingstation.com

Welcome to the VCCA Chat site, Jason! Another great step to take if you have not already is to become a member of the VCCA and get access to our online reference centre, and online copies of past Generator & Distributor Magazines. You guys in Cali have a lot of local regions to consider joining as well, to get out and meet the real experts on Vintage Chevrolet restoration. A fun group as well!
Post up some pics of your car... we all love pictures!

Hello Jason, and welcome to the site. You've definitely come to the right place, and it's great to see a younger guy interested in these old beauties. We'll do the best we can to help you out. To get you started, I recommend that you consider buying the following items from the Filling Station www.fillingstation.com which is by the way one of the top suppliers of parts for these cars and is a great source. You should get the following items (Filling Station Part Number in Parentheses): -- The Owner's Manual for your car (DG-A30) -- The Service Instructions for your car (DG-117) -- The Chevrolet Service News for 1930 (SN-30) -- The Master Parts Book for your car (FS-936) With those four publications, you'll have a great starts. There is also a ton of technical information on this site, so you should learn how to use the search function and spend some time browsing. But above all, I recommend that you join the club which runs this site, the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America. Membership gets you a great monthly Publication (The Generator and Distributor) and access to lots more help and technical information. Welcome to the world of early Chevys. These are great old cars and you will have a lot of fun with yours. All the Best, Chip

Welcome
You will find that the '30 Chevy has many performance advantages compared to the Model A of the same period. Also that there are not the multitude of parts and literature available. However, there are many sources of both information and parts withing the VCCA. Some people know these cars down to the nuts and bolts. The most fun is driving them to events and talking to the folks who appreciate the preservation of these pieces of rolling history.
How Sweet the roar of a Chevy four!

You can contact Larry Jackson in Santa Maria. His phone number is: (805)937-8171. Larry has a 1930 Sport Coupe and he probably knows the fellows that own other 1930 Chevrolets in the Santa Maria area. I think that he has done some work on their cars in the past. By the way, I see that you joined Chevy Chatter way back in March of 2010. Have you done anything to your car since then?

In addition to what Chipper suggested I would suggest purchasing the 1929 Service News. I have a 1931 and I found good information in the late 1930 material about the 31. They were introducing the new 31 Chevrolet. Welcome to Chevrolet.

Junkyard, I had planned to get started way back then, but I was also getting ready to move and I did not want to start dissassebling the car. Was not until recently did I get a firm footing and a place to take my time and enjoy the car, so I am looking to get moving now :-) So far my work on the car has been to think about how good it will look when it is done, and wonder if all the dirt/grease will ever get out from under my nails when it is "over"

You know, I may have actually met Larry once without realizing it! Does he make a gear setup for the stock chevy rear-end that made them much more capeable and safer of going 65 on the freeway?
