OP easy money Backyard Mechanic Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 410 Penn Yan N.Y.	my 51 hood stayed up until I oiled the pivot points. Will new springs correct this ? Maybe shims at the pivot points might also work. Thanks. easymoney

Gaither Oil Can Mechanic Joined: Nov 2012 Posts: 604 Chattanooga, TN	I know nothing. FWIW, the hood on the '41 would stay up one time and not the next (I had not oiled the pivot points). The old springs were "tired". I put new springs on the hinges and did oil the pivot points because of the increased tension. Problem solved!
