Getting ready to install my hood on my 31 Coupe. Is there anything that I should do or not do before I start? I'm thinking , that I should loosen the nut at the radiator so it will pull back a bit ,then with some help , slide it in at the vowel, drop down on radiator , then push back in place . Am I missing anything? Stanman

As one who has done this a few times its nice to have another person on the opposite side of the hood and a third to direct the drop onto the rad shell.

That's about it. You can do it yourself but way better with another person. Also cardboard or towel on top of cowl can protect the paint in case all does not go perfectly. Loosen the lower attaching bolt that hold the radiator bottom in place. That way rocking the radiator and shell is easier. Just make sure that the upper hose clamp is loose so the hose can slide on the radiator inlet.

A two man job, you have spent a lot of time and money on the paint job.
Another small thing. We have an expectation that the hood bottoms will touch the fender. They will not and you may see a fairly large gap between the bottom of the hood and the fender. This is normal and is mitigated by the small skirt. This is why you paint the bottom of the cowl with the small black square so that you see black and not body color at the bottom of the cowl below the hood bottom. I hope this makes sense. Good luck and a major milestone. Chris
