Can someone please tell me if the oil holes in the rocker shafts in a 39 engine are facing the top or the bottom of the shaft, under the rocker arms.

They face down i just did my 37 also the shoulder bolt will only let you put it in one way if you look were the holes for the bolts are you'll notice they are bigger on one side then the other

Oil holes face down on the rocker arm shafts. Believe the bolts that hold the shafts down have a shoulder so that they can only go one direction.
