Can anyone tell me the correct location for the "number plate" that has a space for the "car no." on it? I presume the "number" is the VIN number and this plate mounts to some part of the wood body frame. Thank you...JIM

Car is a FISHER BUILT body, so wouldn't the build tag be on the right side of engine side of the firewall. ???

I think that he is talking about the car serial number plate that is on the wood main sill by the passenger door and not the Fisher Body cowl tag.

Hi Mike: The car is a Fisher. There is a tag on the cowl, a oval shaped "Fisher Body" on the bottom of the cowl, but, none of the tags have the VIN number. The tag in question is oblong plate 1 3/4" x 3 1/2". Where is says "car no:"there is a blank space for a VIN number. See page 278, part number DP-33 of The Filling Station catalog. JIM

Hi Junkyard Dog: Thank you for the corect response; the car serial number is what goes on this tag. I have called them VINs so long I forgot there were other names for this plate. Exactly where is the main wood sill and the position it mounts in? A photo to proracer690@gmail would be the best help I think. JIM

Looking at some pictures Bill Masters sent me some years ago of his original floor, It's on the RH (passenger) sill about an inch & a half forward of the board that runs from sill to sill in front of the front seat....Joe

Unfortunately my 1935 chevrolet standard series 3 window coupe only had the general motors of Canada firewall plate. Nothing was on the floor in front of the seat.

I guess usa builds were different ?

Hi Joe: Thanks for the information as it was correct. In the interim, I found the mini-nail holes and matched them to the new plate (old plate missing).
