I have an original locking gas cap,what years would it be correct on..I have seen many repro's and the scrip is painted red,mine has no paint,what is correct

gas cap Based on Johnny's collection, and mine, I say no red paint. They are on the '48 accessories list. Are you about to reach the light at the end of the tunnel??

I'm actually kind of sad to hear that. I've seen the red paint ones and thought they looked kind of nice. Made me wonder if mine should have been painted. Oh well...
