Reg. straight up. laugh

I take that back...I add a little MM and Lucas/Safeguard Ethanol conditioner/stabilizer...If that's what was meant by additives...

I do mix about 50/50 with nav. gas from time to time cleaner, more octane, and will not go bad nearly as fast, and it does not hurt a thing. Thanks Roger

I use 87 octane in my old car but have had to use E-10 when we have been on VCCA tours and have not had any problems other than it might crank a little longer on hot restart. My newer cars and pickup use E-10 all the time and no problems, it's 10 to 13 cents less per gallon here.

I have been running the regular E10-87 octane gas for the last 12 years with no problems.Yet. I do add some MMO from time to time. Keep in mind todays gas is a higher quality (usually) than what was available in the 20,s and 30's.

We have has ethanol here in this part of Wisconsin for over 20 years. I have never had a problem with it.

The fuel pumps on my cars are all pre ethanol and never had a diaphragm problem.

I have had nothing but problems with that Ethanol crap in our 1984 Oldsmobile. Never had an issue with the car until it was mandatory that Ethanol be blended in the gasoline here in Southern, Oregon a few years ago. There is a campaign here locally to get that garbage out of our gas. And, in small engines that junk is a disaster. Even my owner's manual on our 2008 Chrysler 300 C states that nothing over E-10 should be used in that vehicle because damage to the engine can result.

One of the local gasoline and fuel oil distributors has sent out a color tri-fold flyer to all of their customers warning them of the damage that E-10 can cause to older vehicles and small engines and they recommend not purchasing gas that contains Ethanol if at all possible.

With the Ethanol in the gas, my cars have less power and get less miles per gallon than they did with the "real" gasoline.

I can't comment on less power. Just don't have an effective way to measure that.

I definitely get lower miles per gallon. Whatever lower fuel cost there may be (may have been) is wiped out and then some by lower MPG.

Bill.

I thought that ethanol added to gasoline was fairly recent. But if you look at a posting by p.k. in General Discussions titled "More Old Gas Station Pictures" (posted Dec. 31, 2012), the 15th picture shows a vintage '30s gas station (based on the appearance of the cars) offering Corn Alcohol Gasoline, 10% Blend. I wonder how many, if any, problems the cars had with that blend.

Happy Motoring,

Dan

That had to be tough on any rubber hose, the fuel pump, and carburetors.

Hi all, I use aviation gas in my 32 chevy, runs great. Aviation gas is 100 octane with lowlead, the tank life is 3 years, so you don't have to add Fuel Stabilizer over the winter. Thats the pro's, the con is it's $5.75 a gal. but you can use half/half.
