What is the correct color for the inside of the glove box door on a 40 Special Deluxe.

Is it the same color as some other interior item, perhaps the instrument face that goes over the gauges and shows through the glass?

Is the back side of the clock case a darker brown? wazzup

Thanks,

BigBob,

Is there any original paint left on the inside of the glove box door? There was on mine and I "extrapolated" a little to compensate for ageing, even though it was rarely exposed to light. My Master Deluxe was a dark brown, like the base color of the woodgrain dash. ChevGene can give you a definitive answer.

Sorry-I have no info on a 1940--but--the back of the glove box door and the hinges on my '39 are a solid brown in about the same shade as the wood grain on the front. The back of the clock (eletric) is unpainted--but--Chevrolet had more than one sorce for clocks so there may have been both painted and unpainted.

Hello BigBob: Send me an email and an SASE and I will send you a match for the color on the back of the 1940 glove box door. I have an absolutely beautiful original 1940 glove box door and I can provide you with an exact color match.

BigBob,

Chevgene and I are right about the "dark" brown, but Toolman can give you the exact color. Good luck. Your attention to "correctness" and detail will get you a lot of 'firsts' at shows and even more personal satisfaction.

Well doc, I'm not sure if I'm going to show or not. I tried to keep everything as authentic as possible, but some things just aren't 100% stock, ie my 235 retrofit motor. It has all the 40 manifolds, starter, generator, electrolock and so on. btw, I got the cd in the mail to you today.

Thanks,
