I just can not hold my displeasure any longer. I see a fellow member wanting to announce a meeting to try and form a new region club. His effort is rewarded with being sent to the members only section of the chatter. The last place this needs to be!

He is making a great effort to draw new people into this organization. Potential new members.

His announcement should be posted at the very least in the General Discussion for ALL to see.

Got to stop here and gather my composure.

I think the reply to post in the VCCA members section was meant to be in addition to the initial post which was in the public area. Potential new members can see it. They're just covering all of the bases...

That is exactly why the suggestion was made to also post in the VCCA member only section. The requirement of all Region Members to also be VCCA Members makes posting there advisable. It in no way was intended to not post or advertise the formation of a new region where ever it might help form the region.

I note this effort was deleted in one area but has not been posted in members only area, perhaps an oversight. Hopefully original poster will place it in both locations as Chipper suggests.

No need to get upset... this was a simple error. It SHOULD have been posted in BOTH areas -- I'll tell you WHY later.

But, when I "moved" it to the Members area, I left a POINTER in the PUBLIC area. I intended to have the posting SHOW UP in BOTH areas. But --- this built-in feature relocates the entire message to the new location and does not keep a copy at the original location. So at the original location all you see is a LINK to the MEMBERS area. Naturally this does the general PUBLIC viewers no service since they can't follow the link.

I caused this problem because I don't use the MOVE/COPY function very often and I didn't remember that it didn't leave any text at the old location.

So -- the SIMPLE SOLUTION is to just create a new posting in the PUBLIC area... and I'll do that as soon as I finish this long-winded response.... and I grab a glass of Jack Daniels to help me get over my shame!!!
newangel

Now, as I said at the beginning -- the reason "why it should be posted in both areas"... is.....

We now have a new "highlighter" feature which highlights the ACTIVE TOPICS which are in the MEMBERS AREA. And if we include a posting there (or a copy of the posting) then MEMBERS will be more likely to see it since it's HIGHLIGHTED. Forming a new region is tough. You need as many non-members as you can get to start it. BUT!!!! It is easier to get the REGION activities started if you have some EXISTING VCCA MEMBERS who are well versed in what our club is all about. They have read the G&D and maybe attended some previous functions. So they act as well-informed sparkplugs in a new Region. So, you want to attract THEIR attention as best you can, and adding a second copy in the MEMBERS area is the best way to do that.

Okay, I hear a cork getting ready to pop... I'll hit SUBMIT and let the dogs have a run at this one.

BOTTOM LINE: No disrespect intended. No need to pull the trigger so quickly... let's just fix the problem --- BECAUSE IT"S THE RIGHT THING TO DO. (now... where have I heard THAT before??)

OK, OK, so I over reacted crazy. But as a "charter member" of The Central Georgia Region I DO know first hand what is involved. I just wanted as many "eyeballs" to see the notice as possible.

Please accept my apology for flying off the handle blush

Have a couple on me beermugs

Thanks ruscar. (don't know your real name!!?!) yay

We wish you all the best in starting a new region! Seriously. Only 1/4 of VCCA members belong to a region. That's an amazing statistic. It seems a shame that THEY get to have all the fun.
