I'm trying to get the garnish moulding off the drivers door. The screws are removed, but the rubber trim around the side vent window is preventing me from lifting the moulding upwards. The book says something about removing the "safety locking knob" but not how to. But the rubber would still be in the way. Would the rubber have been more pliable 70 years ago? Will I be able to remove this moulding without ruining the old rubber?

I'm not really sure how the molding works on a '41 but the lock knob simply unscrews.

I got that moulding off, pulled it over the rubber. Damaged the rubber a little, so now it looks more consistent with the rest of the car.
