For US built cars it's my belief that paint numbers were first stamped on the wooden cross piece or sill on 1930 Fisher bodies.

Your '29 coupe is the 15301st 8880 body style assembled at Flint, MI.

Your '29 will not have this on the sill. doh

There is no record of paint codes for specific cars except the paint code that would have been originally stamped somewhere on the car. You may want to look in hidden corners for evidence of the original paint. There were only 8-10 colors supplied in those days, so if you can find even a faded original spot, you can likely pin the color down easily. If you are restoring it, and can find a spot not previously sanded down to metal, then a bit of judicious sanding should reveal the original color. For my '31 Coach, it had been over painted red in the 60's, without having the stainless steel cowl band removed, and when I removed it, the original Serge Blue paint was like new. So check spots like that, door ferrules, inside edges of doors, etc.

When I bought my 31 sedan in 1961 the entire car had been painted a flat brown color, (some would call it S**t mockelty brown). Some years later I sanded the trailing edge of the right front door at the beads with 600 sandpaper and uncovered the original black and maroon plus the pin striping in perfectly preserved condition. Wet sanding it down with fine paper is always worth a try.

G'day

you wouldn't have access to the color combinations for the 29 sports coupe as well as I am just coming up to the painting stage with that. Thankyou for the other paint information
