Hi, On the RHS of the Universal housing directly opposite the speedo shaft connection is a large hex bolt head. Can this be removed in order to drain the uni housing, or is it part of the speedo assembly? My guess is that it is the optional speedo take-off for a RHdrive vehicle? John

The nut on the opposite side to the speedometer cable is a bearing nut for the speedometer driven gear. It is the same side for left and right hand drive cars, with the speedo cable connecting on the left hand side of the gearbox. It would probably be easier to remove the cable side nut with regards to realigning the gear, into the bearings.

I'm not sure about '32 U-Joint detail, but for '30/31 it is the right side bolt that is removed to drain the housing and also to remove the speedo gear shaft and bushing. It cannot be removed from the cable end. The inside of the housing has an up-stand/cradle at the cable end that the speedo gear shaft rests in and also helps prevent the 600W oil form leaking into the speedo cable. I had mine apart, went back together easily. I think '32 may be only slightly different than '31
