I am in the process of restoring a 1955 Bel Air. I am about to begin with the engine and am looking on what paint colors to use. It is mostly orange with some blue on the oil bath and black on the fan/pulley and breather. I want to make sure I use the correct colors. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Dennis

Hello Dwitmer,

The 55 265 was Chevrolet Orange. I recommend VHT or Duplicolor - both have proven durable and glossy (easy to maintain) Lower crankshaft pulley is orange as well.

Valve cover scripts ARE NOT painted - although VCCA will not deduct if they are.

Oil filter is blue - lid is orange/

Black - water pump pulley, breather, and generator. Front housing of generator is natural aluminum and is not painted black.

Exhaust manifolds - cast iron - I recommend Calyx.

My new 1955 had black valve cover scripts. A friends all original 1955 has black scripts also.
