O'reilly...I'll have to try them...I picked up a T-90 for the dome light at California Auto...I didn't think it was correct...But, the 'ol timer convinced me it was, and I was taught not to argue with antique's...He said 6 or 12 volt it didn't matter with the dome light...Boy, was he wrong...Can't see "jack" with that bulb...I'll see if my O'reilly's has one today...Thanks, Russell

I was just thinking of our Speedo-dilemia and realized were putting on more miles than we thought...Odometer wise, that is...

No such luck at this O'Reilly...Said, they'd be happy to order some, "What kind of car is it for...?" ...As he gazes out the window looking at my '47...I say, "It's a 6 volt bulb...Doesn't particularly matter what it's for..."

#82 / 2 pack...He says the computer won't tell him how much ($) or when...But, he does say "maybe next week..." That's encouraging...

When my O'Reily's opened a little over 2 years ago, small town, small store, I could not believe the light bulb selection they have. Not only did they have every 6V bulb for the '48 but, many were offered in a standard AND a heavy duty. As Charlie would say "did too".

Kevin, I ordered the speedo adapter. Stay tuned.

I was amazed at their selection of bulbs...But, alas nothing in 6 volt at all...

Speedo adapter...Can hardly wait.

#82 Dome Light (except Cabriolet and Station Wagon)
Near substitute = #210
> NAPA #82
> NAPA #210

#55 Dome Light (Cabriolet)
Substitute = #44, Substitute = #51
> NAPA #55
> NAPA #44
> NAPA #51

#81 Dome Light (Station Wagon)
> No substitute
> NAPA #81

Just so you know, the links to Don's Bulbs is for reference, not necessarily for purchase.

Let me check my extra bulbs to see if I have a #82. I have a copier paper box of old bulbs.

Well I finally got a chance to go by my O'Reilly's today to find out if they have stopped carrying the bulbs I told you guys they had. As soon as I entered I noticed they had rearranged the whole store. Almost everything had been relocated to other areas. I found the light bulbs and the only interior light that remained was the number 55. I ask the guy at the counter what changed? He had no idea.

Sorry for the out dated info.

Kevin, I installed the adapter today. Took a test drive. My speedo was within 1 mph of the GPS from 0 to 75 mph. If only every fix was as easy as this one.

I again recommend you check yours with a GPS to check the % of error. Mine was dead on 20%. $62.00 + $8.00 shp.

Thanks Russell...I thought they jumped at 10 percentage points at a time, so...Don't own that type of GPS so I guess I'll just have a buddy drive along side me and yell...lol

Can ya hear me now...? ...Good lord.

The GPS that I have reads in actual MPH, there is a visual picture of a speedometer dial or you can have a digitual read out to the nearest MPH.

Hi Dale. I have a measured distance of 10.2 miles that I do my testing on. Very little traffic. At the turn around point is about a 3 mile straight away. At the beginning of that straight away I floored it and watched the GPS/speedo. The GPS has a slight delay. When the speedo hit 75 I let off and looked at the GPS. This is the screen I use when just driving around. [Linked Image from pic50.picturetrail.com] . Notice the total miles. Dead on!
So far I am really pleased with the ride and the handling, even with the bias ply. Bring back memories.I now have 220 miles on the car. No new "bugs" and the engine feels really strong. I changed the break-in oil last weekend. There was some "shiny stuff" but I guess that would be normal for a total rebuild? I do have a couple drops of oil after a drive. I figure I'm in the majority.
I figure with the .40 over pistons and shaved head, making about 300HP. devil

Well, I'd certainly say it sounds as though it's running strong...Wow, 75 mph...I might have gotten going that fast before (down-hill), but I don't think I'd take my eyes off the road to check...Haha

Nice Garmin...!

I'd like to see how fast mine could really go, but first I have to get the carburetor to open all the way...I've looked down the throat before, when the pedal is to the floor and it's not open all the way...Guess I need to add an "extension" to the linkage under the pedal...? It's like having sort of "governor"...Harder to over rev it that way, I guess...Maybe the previous owner did that to keep his kids from wrecking the motor...?

My gas peddle is that way with the new mat and padding and all. Only a little over a 1" of travel.

I don't know, I saw TWO cops, two days ago, while driving my '47. I'm missing the front plate...No tags on the rear plate...I watch them the whole time, and they never seem to look...It's like I'm invisible...

I only have but an inch travel, too. I wonder what would happen if the carburetor was all the way open before the peddle was to the floor...? As I remember the 'ol truck ('53) had a stop welded to the floor. Wouldn't want to bent or break something...
